Green Tea Ice Cream

Matcha Green Tea

There are days when everything falls into place easily. You find that awesome parking spot, the kids and dog are all well-behaved, the weather is gorgeous and all your plans go on without a hitch.   On the bad days  a dark cloud looms above - the refrigerator breaks down, you get a tax bill in the mail, the house looks like a hurricane went through it and nothing seems to be going your way.  My day is closer to the latter.  Nothing broke down, but I found out the toilet for the bathroom renovation has been discontinued.  As I'm scrambling to search for an alternative, the kids are fighting, the dog pooped on the floor this morning and the TOTO website is dragging its feet - and no, it's not my internet connection.  I can count my blessings that nothing is horribly wrong, but I'm aggravated and summoning up the energy to clean my messy house (the 2 kids are the mini-hurricanes), make dinner and put an end to this day.

I found this Japanese Matcha green tea powder at the Korean market.  Supposedly green teas provide health benefits - it's a good source of antioxidants and studies suggest consuming Japanese green teas may help to reduce or moderate mental stress responses.  No need to convince me further, I will gladly consume more green tea ice cream to keep my stress level down.  If you like the green tea ice cream they serve at the Japanese restaurants, you will like this.  It is perfectly rich with just the right amount of tea flavor.  Regardless of the kind of day you have had, ice cream will always make it better.  Enjoy!

In an effort to respect his book, I will not publish all his recipes. Below is the link to another site with the recipe:
